Why Use Picture Books?
Picture books are important because of how readers interact with them, especially the read-aloud experience. No matter how many awards it may have won or how beautiful the prose or illustrations, an unread picture book collecting dust on a shelf is just paper and cardboard. The magic begins when a child or grown-up reader opens up the book.

Anne Evelyn Bunting, also known as Eve Bunting, is a Northern Ireland-born American writer of more than 250 books. Her work covers a broad array of subjects and includes fiction and non-fiction books. Her novels are primarily aimed at children and young adults, but she has also written the text for picture books. While many of her books are set in Northern Ireland, where she grew up, her topics and settings range from Thanksgiving to riots in Los Angeles. Fly Away Home teaches students about compassion and understanding that we are all different. Work hard and care for others. What a great book.
This is a great book that helps students understand what work is and what it means.
This is one of my favorite reads. So many lessons can be done about history and the westward expansion.
History in the making. The wall need I say more.
I read this one in my college class. What are riots and how does it effect others. What a strong message this book brings.
